Gulmi – Orientation on Gastrointestinal Diseases Provided to Doctors and Health Workers

An orientation program on stomach, intestine, liver, and pancreas-related diseases was conducted for doctors and health workers in Gulmi. The program was organized by Gastro Center Butwal Pvt. Ltd. in coordination with Shuvalaxmi Pharma.

Dr. Mohan Bhusal, a specialist in stomach, intestine, liver, and pancreas diseases, conducted the session. He provided detailed information on the identification, treatment, and prevention of bacteria that cause gastritis, ulcers, and cancer. The program was held at Gulmi Hospital Tamghas under the chief guestship of Acting Chief Dr. Sophia Thapa. Participating doctors and health workers found the session timely and beneficial.

Through Dr. Bhusal, Shuvalaxmi Pharma Tamghas has started providing specialized services for gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreatic diseases. According to proprietor Mr. Hom Bahadur Thapa Palli, endoscopic biopsy services have been introduced to help identify chronic ulcers and other related conditions, including cancer.

Dr. Bhusal, who has extensive experience from Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, is currently working at Lumbini Provincial Hospital and Gastro Center Butwal Pvt. Ltd. Proprietor Palli shared that they have started offering specialist services at least once a month in the district to benefit the local population.

He further explained that people from Gulmi often had to spend large amounts of money traveling outside the district for diagnosis and treatment of such conditions. Now, they aim to provide monthly examinations and treatments, including endoscopic procedures, for gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreatic diseases within the district.

"Health is more valuable than wealth and possessions," he emphasized.“Receiving treatment from a specialist reduces risks,” he added. “Having Dr. Bhusal available in the district is a great fortune.”

According to Dr. Mohan Bhusal, not all stomach pain is gastritis. Since gastritis caused by bacteria needs to be diagnosed and treated in time, the orientation program was held to update doctors and health workers on current developments.Common symptoms of gastritis include bloating, acid reflux, burping, a feeling of fullness after eating, and nausea.
